The Program

The Governor-General Commonwealth of The Bahamas

I am pleased to extend greetings to The Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation on the occasion of the twenty-second Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program, which was instituted in 1997 and through which many Bahamian students have been recognized and assisted in their academic advancement.
I am aware also that in support of the Foundation’s work over the years, the Pan-Hellenic Council, as well as other civic organizations and companies, has engaged in sponsoring this premier Awards Program, through which the best and brightest minds in our primary schools are recognized and assisted.

The Foundation is to be applauded for its stellar work over the past years, during which a considerable number of students from primary schools in New Providence, Grand Bahama, and other Family Islands were awarded scholarships to highly recognized academic institutions abroad.

I am also pleased to see that, as in the past, this year’s Awards Program will recognize and assist another 121 students who have excelled at the primary level, to advance their studies.

All these matters are essential to the continued development of The Bahamas, and the work of the Foundation is to be applauded. I trust that this valuable contribution to the building of The Bahamas will continue and indeed expand, because the need for well-educated and trained young people is indispensable to our national development.

I therefore congratulate the awardees, and I am confident that with the support of the Foundation, their parents, guardians, teachers and other supporters, the awardees will continue to excel and eventually become part of the bright future which will be ours in this Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

I pray that Almighty God will continue to bless and guide your laudable efforts.
